Ian Keith Smith
June 17, 1952 – March 20, 2018
Keith succumbed to the disease he so valiantly fought in the early hours of March 20.
He could not wait for the Spring Equinox that he so loved to experience.
Although Keith was born in Scotland, he was a true Canadian. He grew up in small towns in BC and spent most of his working life in the Northwest Territories. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Smith, his siblings Alison, Jason and Mark. Five children, Trevor, Jenifer, Chrissy, Lee and Jamie, 12 grandchildren and his fiancé, Deborah.
He will also be missed by his many, many friends and family in the UK.
It is with great sadness the family of Sharon Kathleen Young (Ussleman), announces her passing after a short battle with cancer on Saturday March 10, 2018 at the age of 72 years. Sharon was born in Unity, Saskatchewan to Fred and Helen (Ennis) Ussleman on March 6, 1946. Sharon spent many years in the Penticton BC area and loved to tell stories about her youth there. She then moved across Canada to Thunder Bay and Kekabeka Falls in Ontario. After meeting Kenneth Robertson on a visit to Gold River, BC to see her family, Sharon and her son Robert moved to Gold River where she would live until she had to go into hospice in Campbell River. Sharon was involved in many activities including curling and helping out with the yearly Christmas party for Western Forest Products. She was also a big supporter of the Legion and helped out with whatever was needed. Sharon’s favorite things to do were spending time with her granddaughter Elizabeth, playing crib and sitting beside a campfire with a hot dog and a cold beer. Sharon was predeceased by her father Fred Ussleman and her husband Kenneth Robertson. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her mother Helen, brother Mervin (Carol), sisters Marilyn, Vicki (Barry) and Lorraine, son Robert(Tina) and granddaughter Elizabeth. Sharon will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Young family wishes to thank all the wonderful caregivers that took care of Sharon in the last years of her life including Dr. Durante, the staff at the hospice wing at Yuculta Lodge, and the staff of the Gold River Health Clinic. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
