SCHOOL SPEED ZONES IN EFFECT

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 2018.

The Nootka Sound RCMP would like to remind the motoring public that school zones go back into effect on Tuesday September 4th coinciding with the first day of school.  The public should expect to see an increased presence in the school zones by police ensuring children make it to school safely and arrive home after school safely.

The school zone speed limits are in effect from 8 am to 5 pm daily and the posted speed limit is 30km/hr.  Fines for speeding in the school zones begin at $196.00 and carry 3 demerit points.

For parents this is a perfect opportunity to speak to your children about road safety.  For more safety tips to ensure everyone has a safe start to the school year visit us online at www.bcrcmp.ca or ICBC at https://www.icbc.com/road-safety/teaching/Pages/road-safety-for-your-kids.aspx.
