Site Update

The website I (and thousands of others) use to host images online has now changed their terms of service and require an upgrade in order to use your photos on another site. (ie: 3rd party hosting). This is why you are seeing all those ugly graphics telling me to upgrade.  I have just upgraded, but the ugly graphics have not gone away. Please bear with me as I have contacted support.

Also – I will be back and forth from home and holidays with my daughter for the next week, so please keep that in mind when sending items to be advertised.

Blogger Etiquette = Good Neighbours

I started blogging in 2004 when we were transferred to Ahousaht. I began with the old faithful Blogger blog. The blogging world is a world of it’s own, and for the most part extremely friendly. You want your blog to gain exposure and you do that by making friends and connections. I have an amazing group of friends that extend from Florida, Connecticut, Oregon, Seattle, Pennsylvania and even merry old England! A few years ago we even vacationed together in Rhode Island.

Now, my point to this is that the internet and the world of blogging can be a wonderful thing. There is however some etiquette that goes along with it.  I won’t bore you with all 962 points (that’s a wild guess), just one that I feel needs addressing:

Don’t Steal/Post Other Blogger’s Content, Work, Photos or Videos

You might think this would just be common sense not to do, but sadly it is not. Especially with new bloggers. It’s not just rude…it’s plain wrong. And don’t think that people aren’t aware of it, because let me tell you, people notice.

If you are inspired by a fellow blogger’s post, it is acceptable to post it on your blog ONCE you ask and obtain permission and then it is customary to thank them by hyperlinking back to their website. (IE: GoldRiverBuzz is a link. Typing is not a link.) Even if you put your own spin on the post, use a different photo, etc., you are taking their content without permission. Big no-no.

It’s very hurtful and frustrating to the original blogger, and no way to co-exist.

  1. a pause or gap in a sequence, series, or process.

“there was a brief hiatus in the war with France”

synonyms: pause, break, gap, lacuna, interval, intermission, interlude, interruption, suspension, lull, respite, time out, time off, recess

I couldn’t even have one month break. (25 days)  Although I’m not surprised.

I am fascinated by WWII and devour everything I can get my hands on, and a quote comes to mind from that time period. After the Dec 7, 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto made this famous quote; “I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant.”

Oh I’m awake alright.

If you wish to continue on with The Buzz after this short HIATUS, I am extremely pleased to have you back.  Thank you also for so many hugs, words of encouragement and faith in me that I received around town and in the many emails sent.

I simply needed a little break to concentrate on all the other stress (medical, legal) that’s going on in my life.  So thank you to those who understood.

I hope you’ll stay with The Buzz! Eight years and strong!

I will be doing some things differently and will fill you in soon.

PS: I haven’t decided to reactivate the Buzz’ Facebook yet or not. Perhaps that’s a good idea for a poll!?
